ANERIS Featured at CommOCEAN 2026 in Bergen, Norway
On 2–3 September 2026, the CommOCEAN 2026 Conference took place in Bergen, Norway, bringing together scientists, communicators, policymakers and educators to explore innovative approaches to marine science communication. The international conference focused on bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding, promoting ocean literacy and encouraging collaboration across the marine science community.
During the event, Yvonne Wiese, Scientific and Technical Officer at Marine Institute - one of ANERIS consortium partners - presented a poster titled “How do Horizon Europe marine projects communicate strategies?”. She examined how EU-funded marine research projects adapt their communication approaches to different stakeholder groups. The poster compared communication practices across four Horizon Europe projects: GEORGE, ANERIS, Digi4Eco and AMRIT, highlighting how each project engages its target audiences through different tools and activities.
In particular, ANERIS was highlighted for its citizen science approach and use of practical case studies, alongside accessible visual communication tools, such as infographics, to explain complex marine monitoring technologies to the public, researchers and end users.
The presentation provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and identify lessons on effective stakeholder engagement and science communication, demonstrating how tailored communication approaches can make marine research more accessible, relevant and impactful.
